New Year Meeting

David preached from Matthew 25:31-46 and exorted us not to make new year
resolutions but resolve to follow God each day and look for opprtunities
to serve Jesus through acts of generosity.
Laird brought news of the work going on in Mongolia through MAF and what
was being achieved through Bible conventions.
Prayers for healing were offered up from the congregation.
This weeks prayer meeting will focus on the year ahead and the many
decisions that need tobe made.

Christmas Meeting

We were treated again to the preaching of Simon Knight. Simon spoke to us of love as expressed by God in the incarnation. Simon included the poems by UA Fanthorpe.

He started with

Christmas in Envelopes

Monks are at it again, quaffing, carousing;
And stage-coaches, cantering straight out of Merrie England,
In a flurry of whips and fetlocks, sacks and Santas.

Raphael has been roped in, and Botticelli;
Experts predict a vintage year for Virgins.

From the theologically challenged, Richmond Bridge,
Giverny, a lugger by moonlight, doves. Ours

Costs less than these in money, more in time;
Like them, is hopelessly irrelevant
But brings, like them, the essential message

love.

Which lead in to and understanding of the incarnation.

Simon then taught from John 1, focussing on the light shining in the dark.

John 1: 4-5 (ESV)
In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

He concluded with

We were left with lots to ponder.

The meeting was lead by Laird Morris who read well chosen portions from the Christmas story from the Gospels. Michelle King provided the music and played the piano, oboe and guitar.

This was a wonderful occasion for the whole family with a real sense of God's presence.

Harvest Thanksgiving

This year we have decided to have a harvest thanksgiving service.

Ken Jones who spoke at the chapel last February will be speaking at the meeting.

It would be lovely to see a good crowd to celebrate God’s goodness especially in these times of uncertainty and to pray for one another.

Bring along friends to make this a village celebration.
